Clericon 2024... So Much Fun!

 Another Clericon has wrapped.  Thanks so much to The Dungeon Minister for the invite and for throwing a great party.

The weekend started with a good omen.  If you look closely you'll see a rainbow that - no joke - landed right on top of the church.

I got to play a bunch of games, but one of the highlights was definitely Dragonbane.  Been on my to-try list for ages and did not disappoint!

Gotta take a break and enjoy the Fall colours in Glen Williams.

That was much pain in the days behind...

Check out this great idea for using small bits of terrain to suggest full room dimension.  This is smart - with only the corners and a few features, like doors or a dais & throne, you can get all you really need.

New Spell: Imbue Life/Create Construct

Imbue Life/Create Construct

Level 3, Magic User Spell

Range: touch

Duration: permanent (until destroyed)

This spell allows the caster to give a wisp of his soul to an inanimate, prepared construct of any material and bring it to life.  This construct will have limited telepathy for the caster and will always regard them as a friend and ally, with unbreakable loyalty.

The spell imbues the created being with 1 hit die of life energy. However, the casting permanently drains the caster of 1 hit point of their own.  This hit point is never restored, even if the construct is destroyed.  

Abilities, armor class mobility and other stats are all dependent upon the time, care, and material of construction and are left up to the DM's judgement.

Constructs will lose their life if the magic user than created them dies.

 Some time ago, I published a list of other semi-actualplays that I've found and really enjoyed.  Well, there's some new players on the scene and they are just as innovative and exciting as the others.  If you're always on the look-out for this kind of fiction, as I am, try these:

A Wasteland Story

A fallout solo-rpg podcast. Combining audio from the table, scripted narration and atmospheric soundscapes, A Wasteland Story follows the travel of a young girl, lost and alone, struggling to survive in the wasteland.

The creator, PJ, takes a new approach - and not just with genre.  His semiactualplay flips back and forth between audiodrama and gameplay very frequently, giving the show a whole new vibe.  Very engaging!

A solo actual play podcast based on the Nuovarden tabletop role playing game.

This one is created by Ty of Adventure Slang Productions to showcase his upcoming game Nuovarden, and is an earth-punk fantasy with a fresh take on the form.  Recommended!
